Join resident and professional photography Laurent Dambies for a 12-day Cambodia photo tour through the heart of Cambodia, designed to offer a balanced and in-depth exploration of both its vibrant people and its magnificent ancient temples. A professional, resident photographer will be by your side to ensure you capture truly remarkable images.
Cambodia: its people and its ancient temples
While Cambodia might not immediately strike you as a prime destination for people and street photography, it offers a wealth of opportunities, especially given that over 70% of its population still resides in rural areas in 2025. This means you can capture compelling images in vibrant local markets, around the serene Tonle Sap lake, and within the charming small towns and villages.Monk photography is particularly sought after, and while I don't advocate for staged photos in ancient temples, you'll find incredible candid moments at modern temples, known as wats or pagodas. Witness novice monks in their bright orange robes going about their daily routines – studying languages, cleaning temple grounds, or chanting prayers as the sun sets. These fleeting, spontaneous scenes beautifully encapsulate the essence of Cambodia's Buddhist culture. If you join my Cambodia photo tour in August during the green season, you'll also have the unique chance to photograph the traditional hand-transplanting of rice, a practice still prevalent in the Cambodian countryside.

Photographing the Temples of Angkor: A Photographer's Dream
For many photographers, capturing the temples of Angkor is a true bucket-list experience. Siem Reap, Cambodia, is your gateway to an unparalleled concentration of ancient temples, dating from the 7th to the 14th centuries. It's a photographer's paradise, offering countless opportunities to capture stunning images. If it's your first time exploring the Angkor complex, you'll be struck by its sheer size and the endless photographic possibilities. However, getting those truly great shots takes effort and the right lighting.Consider visiting during the green season, from August to November. This period is especially rewarding as many temples become draped in a thick layer of moss, adding an incredible dimension to your photographs. Plus, during the monsoon season, you can capture unique reflections of the temples in puddles, creating beautiful, mirror-like effects.
